As children move on from their phonics reading scheme, we use ZPD ranges to help them choose books that are appropriately challenging and enjoyable.

A short STAR Reading assessment helps identify each child’s ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development) – the range of books that should provide just the right level of challenge. This helps children develop fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and, most importantly, confidence as independent readers.
