GREAT ways to wellbeing - Refugee Week
Congratulations to our Year 5/6 Maths Championship finalist team. The children completed a range of challenging logic, reasoning and number challenges whilst competing against other Dudley Schools. By aiming high, showing great teamwork and applying their fantastic maths knowledge, they finished 6th overall out of the 12 finalists. We are all so proud of how well they represented Lapal's values of perseverance, cooperation and excellence.
One member of the team even won a special individual prize of 2 tickets to the SpongeBob Musical at Wolverhampton Grand, for his great estimating skills.
The team also couldn't miss the opportunity to have our photo taken with Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Andrea Goddard, who presented the awards.
Please see attached fostering flyer information.
We will regularly share free online safety guides provided by National Online Safety (NOS) as this is part of our commitment to keeping all children and families safe online.
This week the focus of our #WakeupWednesday is - What Parents Need to Know About Smart Watches.
Take a look at our fantastic puppets! The children in year 2 have been working extremely hard in their DT lessons. They have practised joining two materials together in different ways, using staples, paper clips and glue. They have also learnt how to use a running stitch to sew. Most children decided to use the running stitch to create their glove puppet and then used staples, glue and a little bit of sewing to add embellishments such as googly eyes, buttons, clothes and hair.
Your puppets are just fantastic, well done, year 2!
In science, the children have been learning all about plants. We sorted and classified seeds. Then we looked at bulbs and talked about the difference between seeds and bulbs. We asked lots of questions and set up three investigations. We have planted sunflower seeds, freesia bulbs and radish seeds so that we can observe over time and answer our investigation questions.
Well done, year two. Super scientists!
A beautiful day filled with lots of fantastic activities. The children have had a brilliant time and have been an absolute credit to our school.
Well done Team Lapal
