Sustainability
Growing a Greener Future at Lapal Primary
At Lapal Primary School, we believe that by nurturing a deep connection with the natural world, we empower our pupils to become thoughtful, responsible citizens of tomorrow. Our commitment to environmental stewardship is woven through every aspect of school life, from curriculum design to outdoor learning and community engagement.
Our pupils benefit from a rich and varied sustainability offer that includes Forest School, where children explore, discover, and develop resilience through hands-on experiences in nature. This outdoor learning environment fosters curiosity and a sense of responsibility for the world around them.
Our dedicated Eco Council, made up of passionate pupil representatives, leads initiatives that promote energy conservation, biodiversity, and waste reduction. Their work ensures that pupil voice is central to our environmental journey, and that sustainability is a shared responsibility across the school community.
We are also proud to announce that plans are underway to begin setting up our Farm School and Well-being Garden, made possible by a successful £10,000 grant from the Wesleyan financial company and funds from the Friends of Lapal. This exciting development will provide pupils with opportunities to grow food and learn about sustainable agriculture—all while supporting their mental health and well-being through meaningful outdoor experiences.
Sustainability is not an add-on at Lapal—it is embedded across the curriculum. From science and geography to art and design, pupils engage with real-world environmental issues and develop the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a changing world. This approach aligns with national priorities to prepare young people for the green economy, support biodiversity, and build climate resilience.
Through these initiatives, Lapal Primary is cultivating a culture of care, curiosity, and action—ensuring that our pupils are not only learning about sustainability but living it every day.
