Performance Data

OFSTED

Lapal was inspected by Ofsted on the 8th and 9th February 2023. It was confirmed that Lapal Primary School is ‘Outstanding’ in all areas: Leadership and Management; the Quality of Education (curriculum and teaching and learning outcomes); Behaviour and Attitudes; Personal Development: Early Years, and Overall Effectiveness.

Ofsted reports are now deliberately short and quick to read, but some highlights from the report are listed below:

  • Pupils are happy, safe and secure at school.

  • Leaders and staff have high expectations and provide an ambitious and extremely effective curriculum.

  • Academic standards are consistently high, but the impact of the school’s work goes much further than this.

  • Leaders are highly effective.

  • The curriculum and its impact on pupils’ learning are exceptionally strong, in almost every subject. Consequently, pupils make excellent progress and achieve highly year after year.

  • Pupils’ attitudes towards education are consistently positive.

  • Staff’s attention to well-being and pastoral matters is second to none.

We are thrilled with the overall judgement of outstanding and especially pleased with so many incredibly positive comments, the inspectors used the word ‘exceptional’ on many occasions.

The positive outcome is a testament to the care, commitment and collaboration of our staff and governors, the support from you as parents/carers, and obviously the hard work and dedication of our wonderful children. We are extremely proud and very grateful to you all.

As a school, and with the support of the Trust, we will endeavour to continue to provide the very best education possible and maintain our commitment to continuous improvement.

Please enjoy reading the report below.

Attendance & Punctuality

At Lapal we strongly believe that attendance and punctuality are vital for a child to maximise their potential and create a feeling of belonging in their class/school community. We have a culture of celebrating all kinds of achievement, attendance is included in this.

We promote good attendance and punctuality in the following ways;

  • Each week attendance and punctuality is celebrated in Whole School Assembly.  The class who achieve the best attendance is given 5 minutes extra playtime the following week.

  • Best class attendance is published in monthly newsletters

  • Each term we celebrate attendance as a whole school.  Children who have achieved 100% attendance for the current term will receive a certificate.

  • Attendance figures are reported to parents termly and at the end of the academic year via the child’s report.

  • We have clear communication with pupils and parents about the importance of punctuality and good attendance.

  • We work in partnership with the Education Investigation Service (EIS) to communicate to parents their legal obligations and the consequences of condoned absence.

Our overall attendance for the academic year 2022/2023 was 96%
