Daily Online Phonics Lessons

We are pleased to inform you that from Monday the 27th April , you will be able to access phonics lessons for your child, online via; ‘Letters and Sounds for Home and School'.

This great new resource has been created by phonics experts and is funded by the Department for Education. The phonic lessons will be introduced by a range of hosts, including children’s TV presenters, which will help to make the sessions exciting and fun. Crucially this means that your child can receive a daily phonics lesson whilst schools remain closed.

There are three sets of daily lessons to choose from and we suggest your child starts with lessons most suitable to their year group and reading ability. A new lesson will be uploaded Monday to Friday at the times set out below, during the summer term. After being uploaded, each lesson will then be available to watch throughout the summer term.

Reception summer term 10 a.m.

For children who can confidently blend and read words such as ‘fish’ ‘chat’ and ‘rain’.

Year 1 - summer term 10.30 a.m.

For children who can confidently blend and read words such as ‘stamp’ ‘chair’ and ‘green’.

Learning to blend - 11 a.m.

For children in Reception/ Yr 1 who need extra practise sounding and reading words such as ‘tap’ ‘cap’ ‘mat’.

We encourage you to read aloud to your child, after watching each lesson and listen to them read too. As with all online content, we advise you to supervise your child’s use of the internet.
