From November 14th to 18th, our Key Stage Two children took part in a times table competition. They competed against 6 other schools. A total of 1,524 children from 75 classes took part in the competition.
The children demonstrated perseverance and determination throughout the competition. Children logged on to TTRS before school, at lunchtime and after school. Miss Gillon had the noisiest classroom in Dudley every day that week - we enjoyed singing along to Bon Jovi songs as we scored points for our team. We cheered as we worked our way up the leader board. Mr Davies and Mr Homer were resident rockstars and played their guitars as we played TTRS. We requested songs and sang along. We challenged Miss Gillon (and often won!) as we improved our times tables recall speed and rock status. The children were cheering each other on and celebrating each other's success. A brilliant atmosphere!
At the end of the week, the children and staff cheered when they saw that they had secured the spot at the top of the leader board.
Our outstanding Key Stage Two team achieved the highest average score (2, 692) and the highest number of correct answers (an impressive 573, 406 points!).
Out of the 75 classes taking part, each class in our Key Stage Two team made it into the top 15 classes!
Out of the 1, 524 children competing for first place, some of our very own rockstars made it into the top 20. Well done to:
Thomas Sargent (3rd)
Edward Busst (7th)
Rohan Boora (11th)
Oliver Aldridge (19th).
The teachers and children all worked together to achieve a fantastic end result - well done team!
