Safer Internet Day

Throughout school on Tuesday, we celebrated Safer Internet Day. Safer Internet Day is celebrated across the globe in over 170 countries, with thousands of children joining in across the UK. It’s a day when we celebrate all the great things about being online and remind ourselves how we can stay safe. This year for Safer Internet Day, we focussed on two things: having fun online, like playing our favourite games or watching our favourite shows, and how you behave with other people online.

We started Safer Internet Day with an assembly. We read ‘Digiduck and the Magic Castle (you can read the story here). Then we talked about the advice that we would give to Digiduck.

We also thought carefully about how we should treat people both online and offline. Although Digiduck was kind to others throughout the story, the children felt that it was important to remind him, and others, to always be kind whether we are interacting online or offline.
