Weekly Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are all well and the change in weather has not made you too miserable this week. Hopefully the sun will begin to shine again soon!

This week the key worker children, who have been in school, have been carrying out lots of gardening activities and looking at the positive effects Covid 19 is having on our environment. We have also continued to reflect on the wonderful work our NHS is doing and gave this special thought during the minutes silence this week.

We have already posted next week’s learning projects on our school website. We will try to ensure that they are always posted on, or before, a Saturday to ensure you have time to read and prepare for the week ahead. In addition, I am also delighted to announce that on Monday we will launch our virtual classroom, called google classroom. This will be a fantastic tool for us to use in order for you and your child to share work and communicate with their class teacher. I have written a separate letter containing lots of information about google classrooms and a parent guide to help you access this resource. We are very excited about this and your teachers are looking forward to using it, so please log in on Monday! For all of our EYFS pupils we will continue to use Tapestry.

I would recommend the letters and sounds website for any EYFS and KS1 parents who have not yet viewed this resource. My youngest daughter, who is of reception age, has loved the sessions this week, they are also really useful if this is an area you feel less confident in. Please follow this link to find the online phonic session. We will also continue to use white rose maths sessions to support home learning. This week we have purchased activities that link to the online videos and will post these in google classrooms.

Thank you to all the families who have sent us photos and details of things you have been doing at home, it is great to see how you are getting on. Thank you also to year 1 for your funny face pictures, they really made me smile and lifted my spirits. Moving forward you will be able to share this information with your teachers too using google classrooms.

Over the next fortnight we will also be sending out your child’s end of spring term report. Please bear with us as we try to send out 350 separate emails and recognise that you might not all receive these at the same time!

Hope you have a good weekend.

Take care

Mrs Turner
