Weekly Update - 19.06.20
Dear Parents/Carers,
It has been lovely to see children from Reception and Year 1 return to school this week. They have settled back in to school life quickly and their laughter and joy has been a delight to see. They have embraced the virtual hugs, washing their hands lots, remaining two meters apart and followed our rainbow safety charter beautifully. They have also been sharing stories of lockdown, new skills they have learnt and telling us how they have enjoyed spending time with their families. On Monday, I know it felt like your child’s first day at school once again for some of you, but I hope that their smiles and enthusiasm upon collection reassured you that they felt safe and had enjoyed been back with some of their friends. Can I also take this opportunity to thank you as parents for following our one-way system and abiding by our social distances measures.
This week the assembly on the Oak National Academy was hosted by The Duchess of Cambridge. The assembly was based on the importance of spreading a little kindness for our mental wellbeing. It was developed in collaboration with children’s mental health charity Place2Be and encourages children to explore ways in which they can show kindness, and recognise the benefits of kindness to others. Please use the following link to view https://classroom.thenational.academy/assemblies/kindness/
Once again, the staff have enjoyed catching up with you and your children by telephone over the past week. We understand how important this contact is and we are trying to continue to communicate with you all through as many channels as possible.
We are pleased to hear that you have found the revised structure of our home learning tasks useful, where we have outlined daily activities to support structuring the week. A big well done to everyone who has posted work on the assignments section on google classrooms, allowing your teacher to provide individual feedback. It is lovely to see the variety of ways you have responded to tasks that have been set.
Over the next few weeks we will be posting information about new classes, messages from staff and transition activities on google classrooms, please register if you have not done so as this will be our communication system for this information and not the school website or parentmail. Again, if you are experiencing any difficulties then please do not hesitate to contact us via the school office or by emailing technical_support@lapal.dudley.sch.uk with the subject: Google Classroom.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend, fingers crossed for some sunshine!
Kind regards
Mrs Turner
