Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
Welcome back! - This was not the Easter break we were expecting, but I do hope you have managed to enjoy the sunshine.
We may not all be returning to our lovely school building today, but we are ready to return to our learning. We have published our new knowledge organisers for this term and our week 3 learning projects on our school website.
We are very aware that this continued period of school closure will impact children in different ways. Our hope is that everyone is able to cope as best they can with this situation and manage to remain happy and healthy in mind and body. For this reason, we continue to incorporate a wellbeing section on our learning projects. This week we are focusing on taking care of our bodies, this might be doing yoga, Joe Wicks, or having a dance party!
Many of you will be expected to put in a day’s work at home, surrounded by children and all of their demands. Please be kind to yourselves and do what you can. If your child could do some reading every day, have a go at some maths and do some daily exercise that would be wonderful. Staff have provided you all with some great activities for the children to do, linked to all areas of the curriculum. If you can manage some of these too then that would be great.
Yesterday the Department for Education announced an initiative to support schools in delivering remote learning. The Oak National Academy will be launched today (Monday 20th April). This new platform has been created by teachers from some of the leading schools across England, backed by government grant funding. It will provide 180 video lessons each week, across a broad range of subjects from maths to art to languages, for every year group from Reception up to Year 6. We have tried to reference the lessons that we think will be useful for your child in our home learning projects.
Please be aware that each school in England sets out their own programme of learning using the National Curriculum as a guide. This may mean that the video lessons may differ from the curriculum map we have set out at Lapal. Please dip in to these extra resources as you feel necessary and we will do our best to guide and support you with those that we feel will be useful once we have viewed them this week ourselves.
We look forward to starting our summer term and continuing to support you to the best of our ability. Please get in touch via our school email address if you need anything or phone the school office between 9.00am-3.30pm Monday-Friday.
Take care
Mrs Turner
