World Mental Health Day

To mark the importance of World Mental Health day, all of the classes throughout school took part in different activities to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and the things that we can do to ensure we stay mentally healthy. Here are some of the things we got up to.

The children within Year One marked World Mental Health Day by looking at the story, ‘The Colour Monster’. They discussed a range of different emotions such as feeling happy, sad, angry, fearful, calm and loved. During circle time, they talked about one of these different emotions and a time we had felt like that. The children discussed strategies they could use to regulate their own feelings such as breathing techniques, mindfulness colouring, yoga exercises and even a walk in the fresh air. Afterwards the children all completed an activity where they chose to write about an emotion and what had made them feel like this.
