Y1 World Book Day

Year 1 received a delivery this morning, which was their new class text. After looking at the clue on the front and opening the present, the children discovered that they would be reading 'The Day War Came' by author Nicola Davies. The children participated in a masterclass today, looking into the author, her inspiration behind the book and the impact of the war on families.

The children visited the air raid shelters on our school grounds to see what people had to do during the war and how they coped.

They then produced a book review based on what they read and commented on what they enjoyed, giving a 5 star rating.
