Year 2 Kindness Buckets

After reading the story 'Have you filled a bucket today?' By Carol McCloud, year 2 spent some time thinking about one of our school values: Kindness. They talked about what kindness means to them and then shared examples of when people had shown kindness towards them and when they had shown kindness towards others.

Once they had a big list of acts of kindness that could fill their own and other people's buckets, they created their own kindness bucket to keep in their classrooms. Their goal is to fill as many people's buckets as they can by smiling, being polite, helping, sharing and including others. They know that when you fill someone's bucket, you fill your own too. Each Friday, they plan to share and celebrate the acts of kindness that have been put in each others buckets.
