Year 2 - We are Mathematicians
Year 2 have been spending time developing their understanding of what each digit in a number represents.
We partitioned numbers in a variety of ways, we started by partitioning numbers in tens and ones and then we investigated numbers further. For example, when we explored the number 58 we found that it is made up of 5 tens and 8 ones or 4 tens and 18 ones or 2 tens and 38 ones etc. We used the concrete manipulatives to help us to partition and recombine numbers.
